About

As a parent of two children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), I quickly entered the world of special education. I spent a significant amount of time not knowing my next steps for my children and feeling very alone. I fielded phone calls from the school about my child's inability to sit still and "bad" behaviors. My children did not fit inside the parameters set by the school and developed by our education system. It was an uphill battle that I was fighting alone.

As I navigated the world of self-funded assessments and diagnosis, I met so many incredible people along the way. Top professionals in psychology, early intervention, applied behavior analysis, special and general education. This team of caring professionals provided us with the needed guidance and support to move forward.

With the passing of each year, I developed an appreciation for all the qualities that made my children unique, a respect for their diagnosis, and a passion for their fundamental rights to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Throughout this process, the notion of moving towards the world of special education advocacy blossomed into a reality. I committed to my education and board certification as a special education advocate. I committed to my community and actively participated in programming that supported our children's social-emotional learning and wellness. Along that way, I raised two extraordinary children who have developed their own ability to advocate themselves. They have found their voice, and they view their diagnosis through the same lens I do as a gift.

My role as a Special Education advocate is to support your family by empowering you to find your voice to advocate for your child. Together we will find the path that leads to a successful collaboration with the school to secure a complete version of your child's Individualized Education Plan.

Professionally I am board certified and a member of the National Special Education Advocacy Institute (NSEAI), a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), and a member of EdVoice, a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies to increase measurable student achievement.   I am an active board member of South Bay Families Connected (SBFC).  SBFC is an organization that aims to improve the social-emotional wellness of K-12 students by connecting parents, guardians, and teens with valuable resources, education, and support.   As a parent, I am an active member of the PTA, supporting parent programming on social-emotional learning.
